Each day (or week depending on how the music news scene is looking), there will be a run through of the most important or entertaining music stories. You will only need to come to one site to know all you need to know of the music world updates and to hear some banterous opinions alongside that.
Possibly one of the most jokes stories ever seen was that of the US army officer who has banned his fellow people from listening to 'terrible rock groups'. That could be a long list, but his personal choices included Nickelback (with you there my brother), Smashmouth (some-body once told me you have no soul), Slipknot, Korn and Creed. To top that off, playing such artists was not only banned from the hours at work, but all of the hours. According to Geoffrey Ingersoll, Managing Editor of the Marine Times, this is no joke and you can see the actual memo below.
For all the rap fans out there, Chance the Rapper has hinted at another collaboration with Drake's best buddy Future. The two have previously worked together on Chance's Coloring Book with the track 'Smoke Break' but apparently they can't get enough of each other. Clips were posted to Chance's Instagram of sneak peeks at the latest project, with the caption '#mypeak' and all that can be said is hurry the hell up before the world explodes from anticipation.
More news from the rap world, Drake and Kanye West have both spoken out about their lover's tiff surrounding West's soreness for being overlooked on Drake's last album Views. It hurts us simple mortals when our favourite rap demigods come to blows, how West went on a rant during a gig about Drake and what with Drake saying that West was 'sh*tting on him' by calling his music 'over-played'. Ouch, that's got to hurt from big guns Yeezy- who denies all of these accusations- which means that any hopes for some collaborative work may have been falcon kicked out of the window. Drake continued to say in gentlemanly fashion, 'I accept it, I don’t respect it at all...I’m not sure why we’re the target of your choice that you made that night. And yeah I accept what you’re going through, and I just go and continue working on my own thing.' That's it Drake, you be the big boy.
Last but not at all least, David Bowie fans are stepping up and crowd funding for a lightning bolt statue in Brixton streets away from his birthplace. The familiar 'Aladdin Sane' album cover memorial already has £17,000 raised, but £990,000 is the target needed so all you Starman worshippers get out your wallets and donate to a worthy cause. The description would read, 'Just as an otherworldly David Bowie landed in our lives, the memorial stands embedded in the Brixton pavement – a three storey tall bolt from above. A nine metre missive from another dimension, hurled from afar.' 'Unexplained, yet utterly familiar; a poignant reminder that life does exist beyond the everyday. That music and art and curiosity are vital, positive contributors to our collective existence.' If that doesn't give you shivers, nothing will.
