'The Fault In Our Stars'- 5 places in Amsterdam featured in the film

If you are a fan of the 2014 box office hit 'The Fault In Our Stars', you have to read this.

Amsterdam is a beautiful place from its obscure colourful architecture to the view of a canal around every corner. The city is simply inspiring and full of art, fresh pastry baking smells and the ring of bells from bikes in the street.

Whilst most movie makers use Amsterdam for a gritty, gangster film such as 'Layer Cake' and 'Oceans 12'. Director Josh Boone decided to feature one of the most romantic love stories in Amsterdam.

'The Fault In Our Stars' was filmed in numerous parts of the city. From the iconic bench to Peter van Houten's home, if your'e a big fan of the film you will definitely recognize these places.

1. The number four tram

I know this isn't a place but it is still pretty cool that Augustus and Hazel get on the number four tram when they are going to visit Peter Van Houten. If you ever visit Amsterdam you will notice the numerous trams running through the city as it is the most efficient way to get around. Also look out for the bikes, there are lots of bikes.

2. Peter Van Houten's House

The whole reason Augustus and Hazel fight to get to Amsterdam is to visit Hazel's favourite Author Peter Van Houten. Houten's fictional house in Amsterdam is around the corner from Vondel Park at the address of Vondelstraat 162. The scene was actually filmed inside of the house in Amsterdam.

3. Hotel De Filosoof

The hotel that we think Augustus and Hazel stay in is called the American hotel, you can find this on Leidsekade 97. The actual rooms you see in the film from the hotel is 'Hotel De Filosoof' found at Anna van den Vondelstraat 6 , around the corner from Peter Van Houten's fictional home. The American hotel was only used for scenes shot from the outside.

Usually you will find a big green sign outside Hotel De Filosoof with the hotels name on it. Unfortunately the sign had been taken down before I took this image. I also noticed that the hotel is now called Pillows.

4. The bench

If your a real fan of The Fault In Our Stars, you'll know exactly what the bench is. The bench is where Augustus tells Hazel some important information that will change their relationship forever. You will find the ominous bench at Leidsgracht 4. Well you will at least see where the scene was shot. After the film blew up with fame, the original bench was stolen. There is now a large flower pot in its place.

5. The Anne Frank huis

Lastly, how can we forget the Anne Frank huis in 'The Fault In Ours Stars'? The scene when Augustus and Hazel kiss for the first time. Also the scene where Hazel bets her worst enemy (the stairs) with a little help from Anne Frank herself. You can find the Anne Frank huis museum at Prinsengracht 263-267, 1016 GV in Amsterdam.
