We all know that Leonardo DiCaprio won an Oscar in 2016 for his performance in the 'Revenant'. We also know that he should have won an Oscar way before that for all the brilliant acting he has enlightened us with over the years.
For over 20 years Leo has graced us with his captivating roles, each one completely different from the last.
He is an actor that has shaped this generation, someone we have all connected with at some point for his ground breaking acting.
He has made us laugh, cry and feel scared. In some films he even manages to do all three.
You couldn't even count the times Leo deserved an Oscar for his performances, but I've chopped it down to my favorite three.
So lets show Leo some love, here is three times when Leo should have won an Oscar for his performance.
1. His speech in Django: unchained.
If you're a fan of Leo and you've never seen Django unchained, I advise you to watch it right now. In 2013 Leo plays malicious slave owner Candie who enjoys watching blood sport. Once he realizes his guests are plotting against him he shouts in a mad rage, slamming his fist on the table.
When Leo slams his hand on the table he hits a glass and his hand starts to bleed in real life. Instead of stopping to nurse his hand, Leo carried on with the scene. The actual scene where he cuts his hand made it into the film. The anger Leo portrays is more than captivating, its frightening.
Leo should have won an Oscar for not only carrying on with scene but for the raging passion he has in his voice during the speech.
2. For being so suave in 'Catch me if you can'
Leo plays real life cheque forging criminal Frank Abagnale who pretends to be other people in order to get money.
Apparently the real Frank Abagnale JR didn't think Leo was suave enough to play him in the film, that was all proved wrong when he saw his performance.
Before 2002 when 'Catch me if you can' came out we were use to romantic Leo in 'Titanic' and 'Romeo and Juliet'.
However he proves to everyone that he has more tricks up his sleeve than that. At one point in the film you think Frank has been caught, standing next to his forging equipment with a detective holding a gun to his head. Some how he turns it all around by talking his way out of it.
Even though you know he is lying, it is still incredibly believable.
3. His 'jelly legs' in 'Wolf of wall street'
Though he was nominated for golden globe for this film, I think he deserved better than that.
In Wolf of wall street Leo plays another real life criminal that steals money. This time he is older and addicted to cocaine.
When wall street worker Jordan Belford finds a way to get his hands on as much money as possible, he turns into a drug taking prostitute lover.
Jordan gets a serious phone call from a friend telling him to leave his house and call him from a pay phone. Before he took the phone call Jordan takes 'ludes' a well known drug in the 1980's. Whilst talking on a pay phone to his friend the 'ludes' start to kick in. Jordan begins to lose control of his body and physically can not walk to his car.
This scene is the epitome of breathtaking acting. Somehow with out speaking Leo manages to portray that he can not control his body at all, dragging himself across the floor.
Leo said on the Ellen show that it took him "a week to do that sequence".
