Louis Vuitton have dropped a Supreme collaboration bomb!

Please check back for live updates on the collaboration.

With the Mens’s autumn/winter’17 shows well under way in Paris, two of the biggest influencers in the fashion world have collided to create a collection of pure genius. Louis Vuitton brought truth to the circling rumours, confirming their collaboration with the worlds most anticipated skate wear brand, Supreme. And to say the Internet has gone crazy would be an understatement.

With it being the biggest collaboration drop of 2017 so far, the Louis Vuitton X Supreme collab mixes Louis Vuitton’s infamous ‘LV’ monogram with Supreme’s street wear aesthetic, creating a modern twist.

And with the street wear trend on the rise, Louis Vuitton X Supreme is set to release at the perfect time. Fashionistas are frequently being photographed wearing anything they can get their hands on from the skate culture, with Thrasher and Supreme merchandise being the most popular.

But not everyone is happy about the fashion world using skate wear as a trend. I spoke to hype beast and supreme seller, Dan Nghiem who said 'it was mainly in the 90s that skaters actually wore skate brands and it has evolved so much to this present day, supreme for example doing collabs with various celebrities and brands is making it more diverse and open to more people'. So Supreme are trying to target new audiences and it just so happens that the fashion world is their next target. He also said on the collaboration 'I think it looks cool as f*ck, but prices will be insane and so will the re-sell prices'.

Hype girl Searl Golby gave her opinion on the collaboration saying, 'no one is going to skate in a hoodie that cost £250+. As someone who has been interested in streetwear for as long as I can remember, I think pop culture has totally put me off buying more as it's not as exclusive as it used to be'.

Louis Vuitton has put a stamp on the trend letting us know that it is here to stay, but just at a more costly price. Prices have been circling and the rumoured prices start from £200 for small leather goods and up to £5000 for the larger trunk (as pictured below), a big jump from the street wear brands affordable pricing…

The collaboration showcases Supremes famous red logo throughout a typically Louis Vuitton collection. However, if you are not keen on Supremes iconic red, you can also cop a piece in Louis Vuitton’s original colour monogram.

As well as Supremes take on Louis Vuitton handbags; there will also a release of clothing, baseball bats, key rings, blankets, scarves, skateboard decks and even Nicholas Ghesquire’s recent take on the phone case (below) will be customized for the Supreme collab. So there really is something for everyone…

We ran a twitter poll to see how many were in favour of the collaboration and the result turned out mixed with over half percent voting no.

So, is street wear taking over the fashion industry, is it slowly killing it or did Louis Vuitton choosing to collaborate with Supreme realise that their influence would be so huge no one else can fathom it.

Because as we know, in 2000 Louis Vuitton sued Supreme for stealing their logo, meaning that Louis Vuitton have now realised how impressionable street wear is and want a piece of the Supreme covered pie.

The Louis Vuitton X Supreme collaboration will be available from July 2017.
